Night of the Living Dead Remixed - NOTLD:R

Remaking all of the scenes from NOTLD. Animate or re-enact your favorite or least favorite scene. This is all because Romero and pals forgot to copyright the original film. It is completely free to reproduce, screen for profit, etc. Totally proto-Creative Commons style. I love it!

Visit the Night of the Living Dead Reanimated web site to put in work.

Street With a View - Best Google Easter Egg Ever!!

We reported on this several months ago when we were involved in the shooting of this project.  Artists Ben Kinsley and Robin Hewlett collaborated with the Google Street View team to create “Street with a View”.  This project involved months of planning, a cast of hundreds of Pittsburghers, and the cooperation of the Mattress Factory.  Here is the Official Street With A View Web Site.

This performative easter egg is, hands down, the coolest and most elaborate easter egg that google has ever snuck in to one of their products. Check it out!

Tour of PA Disrupts Traffic, Entertains Several

The tour of pa came through Pittsburgh today. After consulting with several bicycle aficionados, we decided that we would congregate at the Bloomfield Bridge Tavern (which doesn’t open until five) - parking lot @ 1:45 in order to beat the crowd. We did beat the crowd! The other four people that came to watch hung out in the Sure Save parking lot, but we beat them by a solid 20 minutes. The police held up traffic for a LONG time while the race passed through. Man, were people pissed! Here is some video that we are releasing without the expressed permission of Schwinn Bicycles, the State of Pennsylvania, or American Eagle Outfitters. Get ready…

P.S. The video is of horrible quality, and not worth viewing. I wrote the whole post before Youtube approved the video. It sucks, but a post is a post. Thanks a-lot Youtube

Walk Score: When Pat and Charlie Are Your Best Friends

WalkScore.com’s website provides a service to those people who apparently don’t get out of their car enough to realize that they can walk (or not, if you live in certain areas) to lots of places for daily goods and services.
I like this website, namely because I’m about to move and thinking about a new city and where we can get the things we’re used to here in Polish Hill (which scored a 77 out of 100, btw): A fresh bread bakery, a good bar, a fish deli, an italian deli, an italian cafe, a great diner, a wholesale restaurant dealer, a classic 1920’s ice cream shop, a fabulous deli restaurant, several paint stores, a convenience store, several large parks, a city pool, a church, asian food markets, masseuse, yoga studios, a stipper club (I think — never been to Bare Elegance), and some cool boutiques/stores — and we don’t even live in one of the sanctioned ‘cool’ areas of Pittsburgh.

Your Opinions Are Wrong In the News

Absentee Landlords

This morning, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette published an article about the abandoned building behind YOAW ’s world headquarters. The building went up in flames over six months ago, and has not been demolished by the landlord Wylie Holdings, who also owns our facilities. That is why we are quoted as anonymous. The landlords are horrible. The Post gazette was generous. It has been a real struggle to live and work next to this eyesore. Learn more about our absentee landlords.

Things To Do In Pittsburgh When You’re Viggo Mortensen

Viggo’s been in town the past couple of months (off and on– reports from other blogs put the crew at Raccoon State Park and Erie, too). I’ve been a big fan of his since Lord of the Rings, and of course finding out that he fathered a child with Exene Cervenka of the legendary Los Angeles punk rock band, X, made him that much cooler. Eastern Promises was also great.
I wonder what Viggo does when he’s in town. I imagine that he has lots of money to go to fancy places, but I’ll imagine for a minute here that he’s a down-to-earth type who likes hard-scrabble stuff.
Good thing he’s in Pittsburgh. Here’s what Viggo should do while in town:
